'It's p****** me off' Bruno Guimaraes on injury heartache after fresh blow in Brentford warm-up

Bruno Guimaraes says he is at the end of his tether with a nagging ankle problem first sustained in January.

It was the 1-0 win against Fulham when Bruno ended up on crutches and in a protective boot before making a miraculous recovery in time for the stalemate at Crystal Palace. This is an injury that has had Bruno in tears at one stage and one that raised its ugly head again at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final.

Just when he thought he'd seen the end of the injury, Bruno was hurt in the warm-up at Brentford ahead of the 2-1 win. Speaking after the game Bruno said: "In the warm-up, I twisted my ankle so now I get some time to rest. I don't know if I can say it but it is p****** me off with my ankle.

"I need to get some rest and see at the end of the season we can do but I am not happy with my ankle."

When asked if he was a risk for the clash against Bees, Bruno suggested he played through the pain barrier. He said: "I got some pills but the first half was very tough for me. I think I improved my game and helped my team-mates to get the result."

But Bruno says he will continue playing on through discomfort as the team close in on Europe. Asked if he will play against Aston Villa, Bruno said: "I will be OK of course."
