Noel Gallagher has been spouting off about Jay-Z again. But wait, this time the Oasis man has nothing but praise for the rapper who wooed Glastonbury.
"For the record," Gallagher said today, "I like Jay-Z. That's my opinion." The 41-year-old guitarist went on to clarify the situation for reporters. Apparently, it was the fault of the quality press, not his big mouth. "The broadsheets get hold of it and have me going down Hyde Park Corner blasting and slamming. If it offends people, don't ask me any more questions."
It seems that no one quite got the message, however, as Gallagher senior sooned moved on to addressing the current epidemic in teenage knife crime. Said Noel: "If kids are sitting up all night smoking super skunk and they become desensitised to crime because they're playing these video games, it's really, really scary."
Ultimately there was no word on whether it was the quality of Jay-Z's performance at the festival, or specifically his rendition of Wonderwall, that changed Gallagher's mind about the rapper he once called "wrong" for Glastonbury. That said, neither did Gallagher use the opportunity to deny rumours that he will soon confirm a rapprochement by collaborating with the rapper. So expect a guest rap or two on the band's forthcoming album, Dig Out Your Soul. Maybe.
