It’s official: Cameron Jordan signs Saints contract extension

The New Orleans Saints took care of one of their own, agreeing to a three-year contract extension with defensive end Cameron Jordan. Jordan formally inked the deal on Wednesday, which the Saints documented in a great series of photos on their official Twitter account. Jordan was joined by his wife, Nikki, and their children for the big moment when he signed the contract.

Jordan will receive $52.5 million in new money ($42 million of which is guaranteed) on this deal, which is added onto the two years he had left on his initial contract. That means he’ll receive $74.5 million over the next five years at a per-year average of $14.9 million. He’ll remain in black and gold through the 2023 season.

This was a great move by all sides, accomplishing Jordan’s wish to be a “lifer” with the Saints and retaining one of New Orleans’ best players for the foreseeable future. It also gives Jordan a nice pay raise after several years as one of the NFL’s most-consistent but most-underpaid pass rushers.
