It's official - Bristol is the best city in the UK for eating out

Bristol's impressive food scene has been well documented in recent years with a raft of fantastic new restaurants adding to the already-impressive offering.

Some of the city's most distinguished restaurants have scooped top awards - including Casamia being named the best in the UK - while renowned food critics have heaped praise onto the likes of Pasta Ripiena and others.

And we now have proof Bristol is the best city in the UK when it comes to eating out, not that we really needed it, after extensive research carried out by Kitchen Knives.

Bristol came out on top with an overall score of 72.05 out of 100, followed by London with 65.95 and Edinburgh with 55.49.

Impressively, Bristol is the city with the most Michelin stars in the UK outside London with Bulrush, Casamia, Paco Tapas, Wilks and the Pony and Trap all boasting the top honour.

In addition, 12.54 percent of the city's restaurants have been awarded the AA Rosette, which recognises top quality food, including the Glass Boat, The Ox, Adelina Yard, Tare and many more.

A spokesperson for Kitchen Knives said: "The UK is one of the most visited places in the world with millions of visitors each year. Some come for the history, some for the culture, sport or shopping, but for others, it’s all about the grub.

"And it’s no surprise, with a thriving foodie scene to rival any on the continent. But where in the UK are the best places to visit on your foodie travels?

"We’ve analysed some of the country’s major towns and cities on factors such as variety, quality and affordability of restaurants to try and find out."
