It’s now or never for Seahawks WR Amara Darboh

Things have not gone as planned for Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Amara Darboh. After getting selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft, Darboh was almost exclusively a special teams player his rookie season, hauling in just eight receptions for 71 yards.

He was cut the following summer, and after spending a few days with the Patriots, he ended up back with the Seahawks and on injured reserve for all of 2018.

Now he’s healthy and competing for a job on a team that just drafted three new wide receivers to help fill the void left by franchise icon Doug Baldwin, who was released.

However, while that is a daunting task, coach Pete Carroll likes what he has seen out of Darboh so far this year.

“Darboh looks great,” Carroll commented on Tuesday after OTAs. “He’s back in the fold now so he goes right back into the competition of it.”

Carroll mentioned Darboh despite not being asked specifically about him, which is a good sign that he’s been paying attention to how the former Michigan product has been performing.

Still, with Tyler Lockett and David Moore joined by rookie wide receivers DK Metcalf, Gary Jennings and John Ursua, not to mention several returning players, including Jaron Brown and Keenan Reynolds, the road ahead is a long one for Darboh to find his way back onto the active roster.
