'It's nothing personal' - Everton interim boss Duncan Ferguson explains Moise Kean substitution

Everton interim manager Duncan Ferguson has confirmed why he took Moise Kean off late on despite bringing him on as a substitute in the second half.

Kean only spent 18 minutes on the field during the contest after coming on in the 70th minute.

Everton took the lead in the first half thanks to an own goal by Victor Lindelof but Mason Greenwood equalised for the hosts in the second period with a fine shot from outside the box.

With Ferguson worried about losing the contest at Old Trafford in the dying minutes, he insists he only brought Kean off to kill the game in the latter stages.

"Yeah, you know what, it wasn't because of Moise Kean's performance, I just needed to make a substitution to kill a bit of time. I've got so many strikers on the bench, I just decided to make that change. It was nothing personal to Moise Kean really," Ferguson told Sky Sports.

Ferguson didn't speak to Kean after he came off with the striker heading straight down the tunnel.
