Rafa Benitez has opened up on Everton's set piece struggles and explained what the real issue is for his side.
The Blues have conceded a number of goals already this season through dead ball situations, with both West Ham and Watford particularly in recent weeks exposing them in that area.
A number of fans and pundits have picked up on the marking system Everton have used throughout the campaign so far, which the manager has preferred throughout his career.
But Benitez has explained that he doesn't think that has necessarily been the issue.
The Everton boss told his pre-Wolves press conference: "When I came here in 2004, we were doing zonal marking and people were criticising the system.
"Two years after, we were the best team at defending set pieces with the zonal marking, it's just how you do it.
"If a player is coming and running against you, you have to react. We have to make sure we're attacking the ball, and we show some character when we have to challenge.
"We're not doing that. It's not just the zonal marking, if it's man-to-man they block your defender and there could be a man free with more chances and more space.
"I think it's about how you defend, showing character and showing the aggression you have to show in these situations to defend a corner or whatever."
Benitez was also questioned about potentially changing his system ahead of the next match, with a query of a potential back three posed to the boss.
However, the manager brushed off any idea that he would change the amount of players in his defensive line for the next match.
"No, we have been working on four-at-the-back at the moment," he added.
"Then with this idea we have been working during the week. We never know before the game, still we have two training sessions, but at the moment we are working with this idea."
