'It's not good news' - Republic of Ireland injury update on Everton captain Seamus Coleman

Republic of Ireland manager Mick McCarthy concedes Seamus Coleman is a doubt for their Euro 2020 play-off trip to Slovakia.

The Everton captain was forced off during the first-half of the 1-1 draw with Manchester United on Sunday with a thigh injury and McCarthy has his 'fingers crossed' the full-back will make the journey to Slovakia on 26 March.

"Our thoughts are with Seamus now," he told FAI.ie.

"Our doctor Alan Byrne has been in touch with the medical team at Everton and we will wait on their prognosis.

"It's not good news as of now but, like James McClean, Seamus is a fighter and he will do everything he can do to be on the plane to Slovakia. We will keep our fingers crossed for him."
