'It's not good' – Cardiff City boss Neil Harris delivers worrying injury verdict over Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson

Cardiff City boss Neil Harris has poured doubt over Harry Wilson's involvement in this weekend's South Wales derby owing to a bizarre arm injury.

The winger, on loan from Liverpool, has been central to Cardiff's attack this season, with his delivery at the set piece and his ability to carve open a defence in open play coming to the fore on a number of occasions.

The Bluebirds will desperately want their star winger to play in the biggest game of the season, against arch-rivals Swansea City, but Harris has revealed the arm injury Wilson sustained during the 2-1 win up at Stoke City in midweek could sideline him this weekend.

The manager, though, said he will wait right up until the morning of the game to make a decision over his selection.

"It’s not a good injury," Harris said. "I don’t know the ins and outs at the moment, because it’s very strange, but he has got a real issue with that arm.

"As I found out in the last few hours, until you injure your arm you don’t realise how much you use your arms when you're running and trying to protect the ball.

"We will have to see how he goes in the next couple of days. If he’s got a chance, we will give him until the last knockings to be available."

When pressed on what chance Wilson has of playing in the derby, Harris replied: "I couldn’t actually tell you.

"I couldn't tell you because I don't want to give too much away, but I couldn't tell you just because of the nature of the injury.

"I’ll be guided again tomorrow and if it means waiting until Saturday morning to give him a chance, I've got no issue with that.

"It needs to improve."

Wilson has scored two goals and provided three assists during his 11 games in a Bluebirds shirt.
