'It's not a dream!' - Newcastle United fans all say same thing after Companies House update

The era of Mike Ashley at Newcastle United is officially over after his exit was authorised on Companies House.

The takeover of the Magpies was completed and announced last month but the documents have now all been formally completed on Companies House to mark the end of his 14-year reign at St. James’ Park.

A Saudi Arabian based consortium consisting of the Public Investment Fund, Amanda Staveley and the Reuben brothers are the group who have ended Newcastle fans’ nightmare after a long 18-month period of talks.

With their new owners valued at around the £320 million mark, Newcastle are now the most cash rich club in world football.

Here is how Magpies’ fans have been reacting to the update on Companies House.

@bolam80: “Get this framed and put on the wall above the fire.”

@mitton_simon: “Time to ditch the Sports Direct mug and stationary set!”

@AJStordy2: “Not quite over yet, Lee Charnley is still there and the dreadful Sports Direct boards. But getting closer.”

@mags_mighty: “Just as we maybe install Howe as manager… and he may not be a first choice for all… remember the below [Ashley era over]. It’s the only thing we wanted a few weeks back.”

@JamesHunt07: “It’s not a dream.”

@kindernufc: “A thing of beauty!”

@Ronsta091: “Right tear down any resemblance of him, get them Sports Direct placards off our holy cathedral and let’s have a bonfire tomorrow.”

@JulioGeordio80: “Going have to crack some cans open over this later.”

@jason17jhw: “Music to my ears.”

@mttbrggs: “Spare a thought for the Sunderland fans who have spent the last two weeks emailing Companies House.”
