The Pittsburgh Steelers enter the 2020 season with Super Bowl aspirations. But to hit their goals it is going to take an effort by every player on the roster when called upon. This means several veterans are at a point in their careers when it’s make or break if they want to be part of this team’s plans going forward.
S Jordan Dangerfield
Dangerfield has stuck around with the Steelers for four seasons primarily because of his ability to impact the special teams. But the Steelers can only have so many safeties on the roster and they need to be able to help on defense as well. The addition of Antoine Brooks Jr. is a step in the right direction and puts a lot of pressure on Dangerfield.
RB Jaylen Samuels

Speaking of guys who are staring at a rookie looking to take his spot, we come to Samuels. Last season, even after James Conner got hurt, the coaches didn’t find a way to work Samuels into the offense. This, paired with the Steelers drafting Anthony McFarland Jr. doesn’t bode well for Samuels if he doesn’t step up big this season.
WR Ryan Switzer

First off let me say I love having Switzer on the Steelers. He’s a high-quality person and by all accounts a tremendous teammate. But the reality is he’s facing some stiff competition on the roster and it’s only getting worse. The addition of rookie Chase Claypool means Switzer is firmly on the roster bubble heading into training camp.
DT Dan McCullers

I do not understand why McCullers is still on the Steelers roster. This is nothing to personally disparage the man but his impact on this team over the last six seasons is 41 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 73 games. The Steelers added Carlos Davis and Chris Wormley this offseason which could add up to big trouble for McCullers.
