'It's heartbreaking... I couldn't watch anymore': CCTV captures cruel moment boy puts dog in tumble dryer

This is the cruel moment a boy appears to put a dog inside a tumble dryer at a laundrette in Prestwich.

The incident, which happened at the Windsor Laundrette on Windsor Road, was captured on video just before 9pm on Saturday, May 6.

It appears to show two young boys enter the laundrette at around 8.50pm, one of them walking a small dog. He throws something at a CCTV camera before crouching down and lifting the dog up into his arms.

The boy then opens a tumble dryer door and places the animal inside. Thankfully, the machine was never switched on and the dog climbed out shortly after.

The boy appears to throw another object at the CCTV camera before they both leave the laundrette.

The owner of the laundrette, who did not wish to give his name, told the Manchester Evening News the boys also stole a separate CCTV camera. He plans to report the incident to GMP next week.

The video upset the laundrette owner (Windsor Laundrette)

Speaking to the M.E.N, the 39-year-old said: “It’s shocking because of the dog. I don’t like that because we’re all animal lovers and it’s not good to put a dog in a dryer. I don’t know what he was thinking about.

“I was at the hospital with my kid so I told my friend to go over and check. Of course, it’s heartbreaking to put an animal in a dryer. It’s not acceptable at all.”

The owner’s friend, who also helps out at the business, added: “I got a message on my phone that one of the CCTV cameras had been disabled.

“I opened the CCTV app and I was watching the guys. When I saw they tried to put the dog into the dryer, I couldn’t watch anymore.

“I took the car key and drove to the shop but they had left. I drove around the street looking for this guy but I couldn’t find them.

“I felt so sad, I couldn’t sleep as normal. We’ve been in Prestwich for a few years and never had anything like this happen before.”
