It’s no secret that the Trump administration hates immigrants. Since the beginning of his term as the President of the United States, Donald Trump has been launching repeated attacks on the immigrant population of his country in the name of ridding it of alleged “illegal aliens.”
Since January this year, the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, under the orders of Donald Trump, has been conducting raids throughout the United States to identify “illegal aliens.” These raids, well, at least a majority of them are being undertaken in the most inhuman way possible. People who are suspected of being undocumented immigrants are being dragged out of their homes, workplaces, and cars and being literally assaulted in front of everyone, before they can verify their identity. It doesn’t make things any better when you come to see that the individuals on whom these atrocities are being committed are often picked based on external features. Therefore, ICE officers are far more likely to pull up a black, brown, or asian looking individual out on the road for questioning than they are to pull up a white person for the same, thereby making way for an America where racism is normal.
That said, of late, ICE has also been pulling up a lot of white people for questioning, which may or may not be due to the racism allegations they faced. Recently, a disturbing video has been circulating on X (formerly Twitter), where a woman is being dragged out of her car by an ICE agent while 2 other agents tackle her and handcuff her as she continues to scream and cry. At one point, she even yells that she is an American citizen, but that does not stop the officers from shoving her in a police car and taking her away.
Based on the latest updates on the case, the woman was allegedly later released after officers checked her driver’s license, which proved that she was indeed an American citizen. Not only that, but the DHS also issued a statement saying that the woman had previously resisted interrogation by refusing to roll down her windows “all the way.”
The incident has sparked numerous conversations among people, especially on social media, where individuals are collectively expressing concern over the current situation in America under the Donald Trump administration. One individual on X, while criticising the actions of the ICE agents, wrote:
