'It's happening!' - Chelsea fans think Thomas Partey transfer is imminent after spotting hint

Chelsea supporters have taken to social media to react to a potential transfer hint surrounding Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey.

Over £200m has already been spent by the Blues this summer as they've brought in the likes of Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner, and Hakim Ziyech in a bid to close the gap on Liverpool in the Premier League.

But is there work going on behind the scenes to complete one final signing - in terms of incomings - on deadline day?

Chelsea 4-0 Crystal Palace: Press conference with Frank Lampard

Well, over the weekend the Guardian said it's possible.

The report stated that the west London outfit could look at alternatives to West Ham United's Declan Rice as they try to land a defensive midfielder before the transfer window closes.

Furthermore, it's claimed that one option could be Partey, who has a £45m release clause in his contract at Atletico.

Meanwhile, the Telegraph have reported that Chelsea scouts have been watching Partey in recent months and he could be a replacement for Jorginho amid links to the Gunners and Paris Saint-Germain.

Interestingly, there may have been a development regarding Partey's future.

Samuel Zigah, who is Partey's Public relations officer, has teased a possible deadline day transfer with a cryptic hint on social media.

And while many Arsenal supporters are getting excited about the hint, some Blues fans are adamant they are hijacking the £45m deal.

Take a look at what's been said on Twitter...

When asked about transfers last Friday, Blues head coach Frank Lampard didn't want to be drawn on what could happen between now and Monday's deadline.

"I wouldn't call it thinning out the squad, I'm not sure that's the right term, but we do have a big squad," he said. "I'm not interested in getting involved in speculation over the last few days of the window, because what I say now would be speculation.

"So we'll see how that develops in the next few days, focus on the game tomorrow and we'll see what movements there may be."
