It's Farewell Friday

As we all woke up to Wogan for the last time today, it is worth keeping in mind that apart from El Tel, there are a clutch of other TV and radio programmes and personalities taking a final curtain call on this Farewell Friday. Tea-time legend Paul O'Grady ends his Channel 4 show after 900 episodes. He is expected to head back to ITV and present a weekly prime-time programme next year. Today also marks the end of Channel 4's News at Noon and More4 News, axed due to budget cuts. BBC Radio 5 Live presenter Simon Mayo presents his last regular afternoon show, which he has helmed since 2001. He is taking the big jump across to Radio 2, to replace Chris Evans on drivetime, although he will still do two hours on a Friday talking about films on Radio 5 Live with Mark Kermode. Somewhat closer to home, Patrick Smith, reporter at our sister website, paidcontent.co.uk, is also marking his last day today. He reported on Twitter: "It's strange and sad to be leaving, but new opps elsewhere call." An intriguing note to end on. Good luck to all in their future endeavours.
