'It's disgraceful' - West Lothian zoo appeals for help after overnight buggy theft

A popular zoo in West Lothian has been targeted by thieves overnight - resulting in the theft of two buggies.

According to a post shared by Five Sisters Zoo on Facebook the buggies were taken between 1.30am and 2am this morning (Thursday 7 November).

Keepers at the zoo depend on buggies to get food, water, hay and straw to their animals.

One of them has been recovered however the ignition key and wiring has been ripped out.

The zoo said: "We’ve managed to get some footage of the thieves pushing the buggies across the car park, two are wearing what looks like grey tracksuit bottoms and a black hoodie jumper and the other was dressed in black.

"There could be more however it is difficult to see.

"We’ve got one of our previous vehicles back through the power of Facebook. If anyone has any information which may help us get it back would be much appreciated."

The post has raked up 1000 shares in its first hour online with people sharing their dismay at the thefts.

One user wrote: "This makes me so angry! It's so wrong in any situation but I know how much you all rely on these and how much more difficult it makes your job."

Anyone with information that may help in relocating the still missing buggy is encouraged to get in touch with the zoo on 01506870000.
