'It's curtains' - Tottenham fans come up with Dele Alli theory as he is left out of squad

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has been left out of Spurs' matchday squad for their clash with Southampton at St Mary's this lunchtime.

Spurs chief Jose Mourinho has made three changes to the starting line-up that edged past Lokomotiv Plovd in the Europa League on Thursday evening, with Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele and Lucas Moura coming in to replace Moussa Sissoko, Giovani Lo Celso and Steven Bergwijn.

However, midfielder Alli, who played no part in the clash in Bulgaria, has not even been named on the substitutes bench this afternoon.

This decision comes just hours after reports in the national media emerged claiming that Tottenham are keen on signing Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard.

Like Alli, Lingard is an attacking-midfielder, who operates in the No.10 position, meaning a move to Spurs would put pressure on Alli.

But following Mourinho's decision to leave him out of the squad that is taking on Southampton, it has sparked yet more speculation about his future.

No shortage of fans have flooded social media offering their reactions and verdicts to Alli's omission from the squad, with some suggesting that his time in North London is all but over.
