'It's been a privilege': Landlady resigns after 30 years at helm of iconic pub

THE landlady at an iconic Scottish pub has resigned after 30 years.

Nina Steele was at the helm of The Park Bar in Glasgow for decades. The bar is a regular spot for Scots to enjoy traditional live music.

She toldour sister title The Herald: “It has been a privilege to run The Park Bar over the last 30-odd years.

"The Park plays a special role not only in the local community but also within Gaeldom and with followers of traditional ceilidh music.

"Thank you to all our fantastic customers, we have made many friends from all over the world.”

The decision comes just months after The Park Bar was bought by hospitality giant Trust Inns which owns 350 pubs around the UK.

The Park Bar and The Brass Monkey were both acquired by the Lancashire-based giant.

Now, the leasehold is on the market with Graham + Sibbald expecting to fetch £75,000 per year with an ingoing premium of £225,000 sought.

The property agent said: "The Park Bar is a well-established business, acting as a popular venue for ceilidh music for more than 50 years, hosting some of Scotland’s finest traditional musicians.

"The Park Bar also boasts an impressive selection of fine Scottish drinks.

"The current tenants have run the pub for nearly 30 years and are moving onto pastures new, leaving behind an excellent business perfect for the right tenant to build upon."
