'It's beautiful': Barton Hill residents in love with street art they have dubbed 'Banksy's cupid'

Residents in Barton Hill, Bristol react to a Valentine's Day masterpiece with many believing it could be Banksy.

The mural which appeared overnight has left many Bristolians puzzled, though local residents say they discovered the artwork on the side of a building in Marsh Lane around 6:20am this morning (February 13).

Gabriel stood underneath the new mural (Shashana Brown)

Gabriel who lives a stone throw away from Marsh Lane said: "It looks like it because of the kind of expression of art.

"It's beautiful, I hope that people take care of it."

Joe was on her way to do her shopping when she spotted it whilst driving and she says she just had to stop and take a look.

She said: "I think it's lovely, it's got ivory and roses so you've got a mixture for Valentines Day.

"Quite often it's a political statement with him - the catapult is a violent thing but it's actually shooting something that's beautiful.

Chancy does not believe there are many artists in Bristol who could have created it (Shashana Brown)

19-year-old Chancy who also lives in the neighbourhood is a fan of Banksy's work thinks the artwork is "cool" but puzzled as to what it could mean.

He says the artwork looks like something Banksy would do and does not believe there are many artists in Bristol that could have created the masterpiece.

He said: "This could be like Banksy's cupid."
