‘It’s basically a you-know-what measuring contest’: Marjorie Taylor Greene blames ‘weak’ men from both parties for gov shutdown

Marjorie Taylor Greene has officially gone rogue. For years, she was an obedient MAGA cheerleader dancing to the beat of Donald Trump’s drum, happily telling interviews: “I love President Trump, I never hide that fact. I think he’s wonderful.”

But lately it seems the romance is well and truly dead. Greene is adamant that the Epstein files must be released, no matter if they incriminate Trump. She’s been one of the most consistent pro-Palestinian voices in U.S. politics (itself a dire indictment of progressive Dems), and has repeatedly rounded on the party’s broken promises about raising living standards.

Now she’s said she thinks the nation is “sick and tired” of the blame game being played about the government shutdown, pointing the finger at senior male Democrats and Republicans for being unable to negotiate with one another:

The interviewer asked what Greene made of “Republicans bearing more of the blame than Democrats”:

“Americans know that Republicans control the House and the Senate and they’re looking and going “well why are you shut down?”. I’ll go back to this. Senate Republicans can use the nuclear option and override the filibuster and open up this country today. And so I put blame on both Republicans and Democrats for basically, Kaitlan, I can’t say it on CNN, but it’s basically a you-know-what measuring contest between the men in leadership and I think the country is sick and tired of it.”

The measure of Johnson?

Green was then asked what she meant by her recent comments on “weak Republican men in Congress” and who she meant:

“Many of my colleagues. I campaigned with President Trump all over the country for years really. And hardly any of them truly supported President Trump, but when it became clear that he was going to win they ran out and bought their first MAGA hat. … I like Mike Johnson and I think he’s a very nice man, but forcing Congress to stay home when the American people are showing up and working every single day…”

She concluded by saying she’s not seeing any signs of leadership from senior Republicans. So, I guess someone’s out of the running for Most Popular Republican 2025…

So, why is Greene going scorched earth on her own party? Well, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently claimed that Trump had stepped in to block Greene from running for the Georgia Senate, “and she’s been on a revenge tour ever since”. But, honestly, we’re here for the vengeful “Punished” Marjorie Taylor Greene (a woman denied her Senate seat).
