'It's an option now' - Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah makes loan admission amid Bristol City links

Young Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah has admitted he may leave the Emirates on a temporary basis, with Bristol City interested.

The promising 20-year-old has recently expressed his desire to compete with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette for a starting berth in Unai Emery's Gunners side, however he concedes the reality is that he may be shipped out on loan for the 2019/20 campaign.

The Robins face competition in the form of Charlton, Bundesliga side Augsburg and a number of other Championship sides, but their path to success lies within where Arsenal manager Unai Emery considers Nketiah in the pecking order at the Emirates.

Aubameyang and Lacazette are undoubtedly Arsenal's two best players but beyond those star names, with Danny Welbeck leaving the club, Emery isn't blessed with too many other options.

Augsburg had expected to take Nketiah on a temporary basis until the end of the season in January, but the deal collapsed - leaving the youngster in limbo.

He played just 62 minutes between February and the end of 2018/19, and there is a consideration at Arsenal that his development may be best served away from north London for a season.

Speaking to football.london the starlet said a loan move could indeed be on the cards - words that will put the likes of Bristol City on red alert.

"It was disappointing the loan [to Augsburg] fell through as I wanted to play every game but my goal is to play for Arsenal," he said.

"There were talks of a loan in January and of course that's an option now but it's not completely down to me.  I need to speak to the manager."

He added: "At the moment I'm just focusing on going back to Arsenal and giving my all and seeing where it gets me.

"Whichever way I go about it my end goal is to play for Arsenal."
