'It's all we have left' - The Arsenal fans in a panic over Liverpool's Invincibles run

Liverpool have taken a major step forward in their pursuit of their first topflight title of the Premier League era by beating Leicester City, and the manner of their victory has Arsenal fans fearing the worst.

Jurgen Klopp's side have now played 18 games, won 17 and drawn only once in the league this season and are threatening to become the new Invincibles in English football.

The Gunners famously went a full season without suffering a single loss in the Premier League under Arsene Wenger in the 2003/04 season.

Arsenal: A look back at 2019

However, while it has been a feat that no other side have managed to match since their victorious and unbeaten campaign, Liverpool are already on path to put their points tally in 2004 in the shade.

Arsenal won the league with 90 points that year. The Reds have already amassed 52 points from 18 games. If they continue on this course, they could win the Premier League with a final total of 109.

That would also blow Manchester City's record points tally out of the water from 2018 when they lifted the first of two titles under Pep Guardiola.

On social media, Arsenal fans are fretting over the very real prospect that their club's unique achievement in the Premier League era could be about to be taken from them by Liverpool.

Of course, Arsenal were not the first Invincibles in English football.

That honour went to Preston North End, the winners of the country's very season of the Football League in 1888/89.

However, they only played 22 matches in the league that season, although they did also lift the FA Cup back in an era where a club needed a mere five victories to win the oldest cup competition in world football.

Wenger's Invincibles achievement in 2004 came off the back of a full 38-game Premier League season, and no matter how impressive Liverpool may be they still face 20 potential banana skins before they can match the Gunners.

If Klopp wants to have any hope of receiving a gold Premier League trophy to match the one awarded to the former Arsenal manager he better get planning for every single of the games in which his team must avoid defeat.
