It's a travesty! Britain's favourite crisps poll sparks calls for a second crunch vote

Pringles, Doritos and Walkers have been named as Britain's favourite crisps in a TV poll that sparked an angry reaction and demands for a second 'People's Vote'.

Channel 5 aired a two-hour programme on Sunday counting down the nation's most popular crisps from a shortlist of 20.

But the crunch vote has sparked a furious response on social media - after popular snacks including Monster Munch failed to make the list.

One fan of the spicy snack threatened to complain to Ofcom over the debacle.

Su Pollard was among the celebrities on the show (Channel 5)

And there were also calls for a rerun as critics claimed some of the items in the list - such as Mini Cheddars - could not strictly be counted as 'crisps'.

Pringles and Monster Munch were trending on Twitter this morning as the results of the poll were debated online.

Jo Horne posted on Twitter: "Who on earth voted Nik Naks 20th in Britain's favourite crisps?! Top 3!!!! We clearly need a people's vote on this issue."

Jack Stirling added: "Just watched Britain’s favourite crisps, the results are absolutely sickening."

Some viewers questioned the format of the show, with many arguing that the poll doesn't compare like with like.

Leanne Jones added: "you have to categorise the crisps...can’t just go all out for 1 favourite."

And Channel 5 added fuel to the fire as it posted an image on social media which divided the top 20 crisps into an 'official crisp pyramid' which had Pringles, Doritos and Walkers in a 'God Tier' at the top and Nik Naks in a bottom tier titled 'Don't come anywhere near me with these...'

One Twitter replied to the post saying: "That is all kinds wrong! Squares on the bottom... it’s a travesty."

And another user named Stuart Banter wrote: "don’t agree on this. I demand a re vote. #PeoplesVotes"

The programme, which featured celebrities including Su Pollard giving their own verdicts on camera, will be shown again on Channel 5 on Friday evening.
