It's A Sin viewers in floods of tears over Neil Patrick Harris' harrowing AIDS storyline

New Channel 4 drama It's A Sin left viewers in floods of tears this evening as a tragic storyline involving Neil Patrick Harris' character Henry Coltrane this evening.

The Russell T Davies series premiered tonight and follows five 18-year-olds who move to London in 1981 as their lives are turned upside down by the AIDS crisis.

Its witty script and acting was met with praise by viewers, but fans were left heartbroken as Henry's partner left him and he was struck down with AIDS.

At the end of tonight's episode, nurses were seen removing his dead body and scrubbing down his hospital bed.

Fans were left utterly devastated and took to Twitter to comment.

One tweeted: "Omg this is already heartbreaking and I know it's only going to get worse #ItsASin."

While another commented: "This is heartbreaking #ItsASin."

Teen Colin was Henry's only visitor (Channel 4)

A third wrote with crying emojis: "Oh Henry #itsasin."

"I felt like I got hit by a train in last scene #ItsASin," another wrote.

One commented: "That was fantastic and devastating at the same time. #ItsASin."

Another wrote: "I have emotionally invested in these characters after one episode. It’s beautifully written. #itsasin."
