It's a scorcher! Liverpool and Everton fans to bask in sunshine on last day of season, confirms Met Office

The Met Office has confirmed that Liverpool is about to be hit by a wave of warm weather.

Over the next two days, there will be outbreaks of rain but soon the weather becomes more settled.

Today a Liverpool weather: Temperatures drop as Merseyside faces full day of rain will slowly sink southwards,  there will be some clear spells, but it will be cold.

And on Friday, the rain in the south will become more showery and spread northwards.

But as the Premier League title race enters the home straight, Liverpool and Everton fans will rejoice that on Sunday, the city will bask in a 15C warmth.

As the Reds face Wolves at Anfield and Everton clash against Tottenham, the Met Office predicts by 3pm, the region will be basking in the sun.

But there's even better news, the following week will see temperatures remain in double figures as Tuesday peaks to 17C.

The Met Office said: "High pressure looks set to remain across the UK next week, which will bring plenty of fine, dry and settled weather, with increasing amounts of sunshine.

"However, with clear skies and light winds overnight it will turn quite chilly with the risk of some widespread rural frosts, also some isolated mist and fog patches are likely to form in places.

"Meanwhile, frontal systems may try to push in from the Atlantic into the far north and northwest initially, then to other areas, with cloud, rain and stronger winds at times.

"Temperatures on the whole are likely to be warmer than normal, with the chance of locally very warm conditions in the west and southwestern parts."
