It's a good sign if your child is obsessed with dinosaurs and this is why

It seems like there’s always a new obsession of your little ones to become addicted to, from cards and trains to dolls and unicorns.

But, dinosaurs are an age-old childhood obsession that is sticking around.

If your child is completely obsessed with dinosaurs , quickly telling the difference between a Brachiosaurus and a Diplodocus, then it could be a sign that you have a little genius on your hands.

Results of a study by the University of Indiana and the University of Wisconsin found that kids with an “intense interest” in dinosaurs may have a higher intelligence level, reports the Mirror .

The study has recently resurfaced online and states that children who develop obsessive interests, in such things as dinosaurs, will go on to experience a number of benefits.

These include enhanced perseverance, improved attention and an increase in skills of complex thinking such as processing information.

The way in which a child studies dinosaurs was also shown to help them develop strategies to tackle problems throughout life.

Many will rejoice to find that their little one has this intense interest in dinosaurs - but don’t be disappointed if it fades.

Most childhood obsessions fade quickly, with only around 20 percent of children retaining their interests until the age of around five or six.
