“It’s a Big Treat” Prince William Reveals His Family Love Watching Celebrity Traitors

The Wales children may famously be kept away from phones, but it turns out not every screen is completely off limits inside the royal household. And when the right program comes on, even Prince William, Princess Kate, and their three kids like to gather round for a bit of family tally.

That revelation came straight from the Prince of Wales himself, who let slip during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on 8 October that his family are big fans of the BBC’s hit reality show The Celebrity Traitors.

The detail surfaced in a lighthearted moment while William was awarding an OBE to Stephen Lambert, the producer behind the franchise. Lambert, who is the founder and chief executive of Studio Lambert, received the honor after being named in the King’s Birthday Honors list back in June. He collected his medal in person from the prince, and during their brief chat, television talk naturally found its way into the mix.

According to The Mirror, William revealed that watching Celebrity Traitors was going to be a “big treat” for himself, Kate, and the couple’s children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7. The little admission made clear that even royals are not immune to the drama of reality TV when it’s done right.

Celebrity Traitors premiered this week with a star-studded line-up of 19 contestants. Names like comedian Alan Carr, Olympic diver Tom Daley, and actor and presenter Sir Stephen Fry are already pulling in plenty of attention.

The format is deliciously tense: players must weed out the secret traitors hidden among them while competing in challenges. If the faithful contestants succeed, they share the prize money. But if even one traitor slips through to the end, that person takes home the entire jackpot, leaving the rest with nothing.

It’s the sort of cutthroat game that has viewers hooked across the nation, and now we know it’s a guilty pleasure inside the walls of Windsor too.

After receiving his medal, Lambert spoke about his exchange with William, admitting he was pleased to discover the royal family’s fondness for the series. “My award is for services to television, and we started talking about Celebrity Traitors,” Lambert explained.

The timing was spot on, as the program was set to air later that very evening. “He said he and the family were very much looking forward to watching it. It was going to be a big treat for them and probably for the nation, he expected.”

Studio Lambert has already shared its pride in its founder’s OBE honour, posting a tribute when the award was first announced earlier this summer. Now, with the royal seal of approval, Celebrity Traitors looks set to continue its rise as one of the most talked-about shows of the year.

The Wales household might not be one for scrolling endlessly on phones or tablets, but when a bit of family screen time does come around, it turns out they’re just like the rest of us—settling in for the drama, suspense, and guilty pleasure of a reality TV hit.
