Kerry TD Danny Healy-Rae has paid tribute to the families affected by a road crash in Killarney in which one teenager has died and another is injured.
Emergency services rushed to the single-vehicle collision on Ross Road in the early hours of Wednesday.
Another teen who is believed to have been the passenger in the car, is currently being treated in University Hospital Tralee.
It is understood that both victims are 14-year-old boys and were travelling in a Toyota Corolla.
Gardai have said that the vehicle was "subject to interaction" with officers before the crash and the matter has been referred to the Garda Ombudsman.
The scene currently remains sealed off.
Kerry Independent TD Danny Healy-Rae has paid his sympathies to the families “that are left behind, families whose lives will never be the same.”
He was speaking in the Dáil during a discussion on post offices and said “it only reminds us of what true loss is and what real loss is.”
He added: “May God give them the strength to carry on and to continue with their lives in the best way that they can.
“And while we’re here today talking about post offices, things like this are a terrible infliction on their families.
“And again I sympathise with all of the families and the little boy and we hope he gets better and recovers.”
