'It is true' - Ex-Barcelona ace reveals why he rejected Nottingham Forest transfer

Real Betis full-back Alex Moreno has again explained his reasons for turning down Nottingham Forest this summer.

The 29-year-old was being eyed by head coach Steve Cooper as a left-back signing, with reports that a deal was agreed between the two clubs. As the move looked to be on, Moreno pulled the plug on joining Forest at the last moment.

In a statement at the time, Moreno said he decided to stay at Real Betis due to his commitment to the Spanish club. He has now doubled down on those comments, explaining the supporters and his settled family were two key factors behind saying no to the City Ground.

"I wrote it in a message at the time. I decided to stay because of the project," he said, per Diario de Sevilla.

"It is true that it was a step in my career, but the fans, what is being created? Above all for the days I had lived, the affection I receive and the importance I have in this team.

"I feel very comfortable, very comfortable, I have a life here, a family…. But above all the affection of the people around me is what made me stay and continue to grow at Betis.

"It’s been four years, the feeling is very strong and I’m just another Betis player."
