It snowed in Leeds - here's what the next five days will bring

Just a few days ago, Leeds was basking in glorious sunshine as temperatures reached 16°C but this morning light flurries of snow fell across parts of the city.

The temperatures plunged to almost freezing overnight as an arctic chill fell over the majority of Yorkshire, with a biting wind making it seem even colder.

In truth, the snow didn't last for much more than a minute or two in most parts of Leeds and it certainly didn't settle on the ground.

Nonetheless, this morning's wintry weather does provide a bit of an indication of what's to come as April looms large.

The Weather Channel forecasters reckon that the rest of Sunday will remain chilly, with temperatures struggling to get above 6°C.

Monday will be marginally warmer - although Netweather experts have said there is a small chance of more snow flurries at around 6am in the morning.

It certainly won't be as sunny as it was on Wednesday and Thursday - when clear blue skies opened up over Leeds - but the mercury will steadily rise as the week progresses.

The good news is that it will remain largely dry, with only a few light showers here and there over the coming days.
