'It happened every lesson': Father breaks down in court detailing swim teacher's alleged abuse of 7yo

Kyle Daniels has pleaded not guilty to 26 charges.

The father of a young girl taught by Sydney swimming coach Kyle Daniels has broken down while telling a court how she first disclosed alleged sexual abuse.

The girl was seven when she began lessons with Mr Daniels at the Mosman Swim Centre in late 2018.

In March the following year, her parents saw media articles about Mr Daniels's alleged abuse of students.

After seeking advice from her school, they showed their children a cartoon video about boundaries and private parts to raise the difficult subject.

The father, who can't be named for legal reasons, was on his way to work the next morning when he got a phone call from his wife telling him to come home.

Once he arrived, his daughter gave him the same information she had given her mother.

"She said, along the lines of 'my instructor touched me when I was in class, touched me on my privates'," the father told Downing Centre District Court.

The man looked down and exhaled loudly before continuing his evidence.

"I recall I said to her, 'are you OK, you are brave for telling me'," he said.

"I said I needed to call the police."

The father began to break down as he recalled the conversation.

He wiped away tears with a tissue and covered his face.

"She said it happened all the time," he said.

"I don't know the words she used, but she said it happened every lesson."

The court has this week been shown a recorded video of the young girl giving evidence about the allegations.

Under cross examination, she denied "making up" the alleged abuse and recalled eight separate swimming lessons.

Mr Daniels, 22, has pleaded not guilty to 26 charges related to nine complainants he taught at the swim centre between 2018 and 2019.

The girls were aged between five and 11.

The charges include multiple counts of sexual intercourse with a child under 10.

The trial, before Judge Kara Shead, is now into its fourth week.
