Manchester United fans have again been treated with an early goal against Aston Villa, this time through fortunate circumstances.
Villa's defence and Emi Martinez were caught flat-footed by a United free kick routine as Bruno Fernandes' fizzing effort managed to slip through the goalkeeper's grasp and bounced over the line.
As Fernandes wheeled away celebrating, Martinez and his teammates were complaining in vain to the referee, who paved away protests.
Andy Hinchcliffe, on commentary duty for Sky Sports, described the goal as a 'horrible howler'.
Much like the 1-0 win in the FA Cup earlier in the week, United started the brighter against Aston Villa.
