INDORE: As information technology (IT) companies go on a hiring spree post a jump in demand for technical professionals, homegrown companies in Indore are collaborating with local institutes to fetch the talent pool to overcome the challenges of a tier-2 city.
Many IT companies of Indore are collaborating with colleges and polytechnics to assist the institutes design customise courses as per latest technology and hire trained manpower.
IT companies across the globe have seen a sharp jump in wages and demand for skilled and experienced professionals post the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic that rolled out hybrid work arrangements.
Sanjeev Agrawal, vice president, operations, of a software products and services company said, “We have collaborated with a city-based technical institute and supported them with course design and training faculty on data science and clouds. This collaboration is beneficial for both of us as they get versed with advanced technology and we get ready to use the talent.”
IT professionals said apart from challenges faced in hiring experienced professionals, retaining existing ones have also become a Herculean task.
Agrawal said, “It is not that easy to retain employees in current times. People are doing a lot of company background research, evaluating the projects being offered to them and certainly remuneration.” Firms said their salary budget has gone up post pandemic due to increased wages of employees.
Arania Jain, founder of a startup giving technologybased solutions to government departments said, “Now, fresh hires are asking for remote work arrangements. Earlier, we were looking for those willing to relocate to Indore but now we have to offer work from anywhere to candidates. Getting skilled professionals with good experience has become a major challenge for a place like Indore.”
