IT firm expands to become part of Bristol's tech boom

An IT consultancy that has been helping firms work remotely through lockdown is set to open new offices in Bristol.

Dave Smith, boss of Plymouth-based Acronyms said the expansion increases its regional presence and shows confidence in the city despite the ongoing trend for homeworking.

He said: "Whilst all precautions are being taken to adhere to social distancing rules, we thought it important to show commitment to the region by opening a Bristol office and this will be replicated as the company invests in new areas."

In 2019, Bristol tech companies raised $305million from investors placing the city at the centre of innovation in the UK.

Mr Smith said: “We have seen terrific growth during a very difficult time. We have built a reputation based on trust and expertise, rather than simply selling the most expensive kit, and it is that reputation we are looking to build on in the Bristol area. It was important for us to demonstrate our commitment to the region by opening an office here and we have already started to build a locally based team.

“Technology has played such a huge role during the pandemic and tech trends seemingly having accelerated as a result; we are in a great position to help Bristol based firms implement the technology that is best going to support their businesses and overcome their particular challenges.

“With many companies now looking at better supporting remote teams, migrating to the cloud or developing a more secure IT environment, having the support of a trusted IT partner has never been more important."
