The dinosaur-loving youngster from South Yorkshire, was sent to a specialist in Leeds where he was placed on life support but a devastating scan showed between 90 and 95% of his brain was damaged.

Kyle eventually died in the arms of his parents, Emma and Mark Lewis, six days after his fifth birthday, reports The Star.

Emma said afterwards: “can't even explain how I feel. I'm broken beyond words. It doesn't feel real. I don't want it to feel real.

“They kept him on life support until we were ready to say goodbye. But you’re never ready are you? Kyle decided it was his time after he had his final cuddle with mummy and daddy. “He took his last heartbeat while we were cuddling him.”

In the wake of the tragedy a gofundme page was launched to support the parents and Kyle’s five sisters.

It reads: “So as many of you are aware, Emma, Mark and their girls sadly lost little Kyle.

“After three days of him fighting he sadly grew his dinosaur wings. To make things a little easier a few of us wanted to set up this to help give him the best send off possible.

“No parent should have to bury their child and have to struggle to find the money to do so.

“Anything, doesn't matter how little, will be greatly appreciated.

“Spoke to [the] family and they would like to get something for the girls in memory of their baby /big brother.”

So far, around 50 donors have given £1,000 towards the family.

One person paying tribute said: “So sad, RIP little man, fly high with the angels, thinking of all the family and friends at this sad time.”

Another added: “So sorry for your loss I feel your pain as a mother there are no words for it.

“My little girl will reach out and guide him above with all the other children who are now Angels.”

Another said: “Absolutely heartbreaking, beautiful baby.

“Condolences to his poor family sending love and prayers devastating sweet dreams little one sleep tight god bless.”
