The International Space Station (ISS), in orbit about 400 kilometers above Earth, was visible to the naked eye in Tokyo as it passed over the Japanese archipelago on Wednesday evening.
The privately owned Crew Dragon docked with the space station after its launch on Monday Japan time, transporting astronaut Soichi Noguchi, 55, who has begun his third stay aboard the vessel.
A streak of light from the ISS as it passed the Tokyo Skytree was seen in the southwestern skies of Sumida Ward, Tokyo.
The ISS can be observed in various parts of Japan depending on the course it takes. Information related to the locations, times, and directions that the ISS may be visible are available on the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency website.
