Israeli forces shot and killed a 14-year-old boy after a number of Palestinians threw rocks at moving Israeli cars, a Palestinian official has said.
Wagie Ahmad, head of the Beit Ur local council in the West Bank said Mahmoud Badram was killed, and four others were injured, early on Tuesday when Israeli troops shot at their car.
Mr Ahmad said the victim was just 14 years old, though reports from other officials allege that he was 20.
Army officials told AFP that the shooting occurred after “a number of Palestinians hurled rocks and Molotov cocktails at moving vehicles near the village of Beit Sira on route 443”.
A military statement said: “An initial review suggests that as the mob continued, nearby forces acted in order to protect initial passing vehicles from immediate danger.”
The injured have been taken to the Ramallah hospital, which says one person was moderately wounded while three others were lightly wounded.
