Israeli Troops Leaving Gaza To Prepare For Follow-Up Missions

Israeli troops operate in the Gaza Strip

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced on Sunday that some Israeli troops are departing Gaza to get ready for upcoming missions, particularly in the southernmost Rafah region. Gallant emphasized that the goal is to diminish Hamas' control over the Gaza Strip and eliminate the military threat it poses to Israel's citizens. This move comes as part of the ongoing efforts by the Israel Defense Forces to secure the region.

Earlier on the same day, the IDF's 98th division completed its mission in the southern city of Khan Younis and is now withdrawing from the Gaza Strip to regroup and prepare for future operations. Gallant highlighted that during their time in Khan Younis, Israeli forces successfully targeted and destroyed enemy assets, including warehouses, weapons, underground infrastructure, headquarters, and communication facilities.

The impending Israeli invasion of Rafah has raised concerns among the United Nations and international aid organizations due to the high population density in the city. With over 1 million civilians residing in Rafah and limited options for evacuation, there are fears about the potential impact of military actions on innocent civilians.
