The Israeli security cabinet has given its approval to the Gaza ceasefire and hostage deal that was announced in Qatar earlier this week. The decision was made following a meeting on Friday, where the 11 voting members of the security cabinet voted in favor of the deal with a simple majority.
However, the agreement still needs to be officially approved by the full 33-member Israeli cabinet. A meeting has been scheduled for later today at 3:30 p.m. local time (8:30 a.m. ET) to finalize the approval process.
The deal, which was brokered in Qatar, aims to bring an end to the recent hostilities between Israel and Gaza. It includes provisions for a ceasefire as well as a resolution to the issue of hostages held in Gaza.

Following the approval by the security cabinet, the next step will be for the full Israeli cabinet to review and vote on the agreement. Once the full cabinet gives its approval, the deal will be officially ratified.
This development comes after weeks of heightened tensions and violence in the region, with both sides suffering casualties and significant damage. The ceasefire and hostage deal is seen as a crucial step towards restoring peace and stability in the area.
