Israeli Right: Trump to Announce ‘Deal of the Century’

Israel Hayom, an Israeli newspaper owned by Sheldon Adelson who is close to both US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, has revealed that the White House is moving towards publishing the anticipated Deal of the Century.

Details of the proposal will be officially announced in the coming period between Israeli elections and forming of the next Israeli government, the right-wing newspaper reported Sunday.

“Washington will decide within days whether all details of the plan to settle the Palestinian cause will be published, or Trump will reserve it until the end of the US presidential elections next November,” Israel Hayom wrote.

The newspaper added that the US administration had mulled to publish the plan last September but had delayed and avoided releasing its details after getting disappointed by Netanyahu's inability to form a government.

“The US administration is studying the possibility of publishing the plan and revealing all its details during the Israeli election period, or at least postponing it until the US presidential elections,” the newspaper said.

Although Trump himself seems to have abandoned efforts to achieve peace between Israelis and the Palestinians, he trusts his adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner, who is chiefly in charge of the US mediation in the peace process.

Israel Hayom is known as a mouthpiece for the Israeli right-wing in general, and Netanyahu in particular.

It is owned by billionaire Sheldon Adelson, a major campaign financier of US Republican candidates. In the last US presidential elections, he donated $100 million to Trump's campaign.
