Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has asked to defer the March 17 start of his trial by 45 days but his request was turned down by the Israeli prosecution.
The prosecution insisted on holding the first trial on the scheduled date but said that he was not obliged to attend the opening hearing.
Netanyahu faces charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in connection with three corruption probes.
Netanyahu’s lawyers said the prime minister’s counsel hasn’t received all the material from the investigation, however, the state prosecution said it prepared the documents to be delivered a year ago.
Netanyahu has a full plan to evade from the judiciary in case he remained a prime minister.
If efforts to form a government next month failed, call for elections will be announced.
In this case, Netanyahu would remain in his position until the end of the year, till when the government is formed.
If he manages to form a government now, he will enact laws that would guarantee his escape from the judiciary.
