Israeli Minister of Housing, the candidate for the Likud list, General Yoav Galant, published a plan to establish settlements in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights and encouraged Jews to move there.
Under the plan, tens of thousands of settlement units will be built to accommodate 250,000 Jews by 2048.
According to political sources in Tel Aviv, the intensive settlement plan in the Golan, prepared by the Ministry of Housing, includes the construction of 30,000 settlement units in the settlement town of Katzrin and the establishment of two new settlements in the Golan, adding to 33 existing settlements there.
The plan also involves investments in transport and tourism infrastructure and linking the Golan to the country’s transportation network.
The sources added that the plan was a governmental project aimed at strengthening the Golan, and was carried out in cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Housing and the regional council settlement of the Golan and the Council of Ketzrin.
In addition, the project includes the provision of 45,000 new jobs to settlers in facilities in the Golan Heights, the development of advanced work sectors and transport networks and linking them to other road and transportation networks in the north of the country, including trains and airports.
The plan also aims to develop tourist projects, to cleanse 80,000 dunums of minefields and to prepare land plots for tourism, commercial and housing development projects from now until 2048.
