FOOTAGE from the occupied West Bank appears to show an Israeli border force officer throwing a stun grenade into a Palestinian's car, blocking the driver's exit and raising his rifle towards unarmed passengers.

The attack was filmed on CCTV camera at an Israeli checkpoint next to the Qalandiya camp in East Jerusalem.

The grenade was thrown after an argument between the vehicle's driver and the border officer.

The officer was heard shouting "shut your mouth, who are you talking to like that", according to the English-language edition of Haaretz, before the stun grenade was thrown through the open door of the car.

The officer can then be seen forcing his body against the door while the driver attempts to escape the blast, two other passengers are seen fleeing the car on the other side.

A blast is then seen, with the driver still inside, with smoke rising from the open passenger door.

The officer is then seen moving to the opposite side of the car and raising his rifle in the direction of the two passengers who escaped. The two passengers were holding their hands up above their head with open palms.

The driver appeared to be responsive following the blast and partially reopened his door before closing it again.

The Israeli police force said the officer acted "not in accordance with procedure" and that the justice ministry's department for the investigation of police officers is conducting a review of the incident.

Over the weekend Israeli troops conducted several raids into the camp, which is currently home to thousands of Palestinians.

The camp is heavily surveyed by Israeli forces and checkpoints monitor the movement of residents.

Raids are frequently carried out, with a Palestinian teenager living in Qalandia being killed by Israeli forces over the weekend.

As well as 16-year-old Walid Nidal Walid Abu Sneineh who was killed, two other teenagers were wounded in the shooting, according to Palestinian reports.

Raids on the camp have escalated in 2026 as the Israeli military conducts operation "capital shield". It has resulted in dozens of arrests and the demolition of many homes and buildings deemed to have been built illegally in the compound.
