Israeli Occupation Forces Demolish School Near Hebron

Bedouin children attend improvised class in the village of Abu Nuwar, West Bank, after the Israeli army demolished their two-classroom school in the West Bank on Sunday ( AP )

Israeli occupation forces on Wednesday demolished a primary school known as "al-Tahaddi 13 School" located near Al-Samou’ town south of Hebron.

The school was sponsored by the Palestinian Ministry of Education with a total cost of 40.000 Euros and was supposed to open its doors in two days.

Locals said the Israeli forces demolished the school and dismantled the "artificial walls" of the school and confiscated a power engine, drinking-water tank and other equipment used by the building contractor.

Head of the Directorate of Education in Hebron, Khalid Abu Sharar, said that the ministry decided to build this school to lessen the pressures that Palestinian students of the al-Simiya village suffer from.

The school consists of seven classrooms and serves 50 students.

According to Abu Sharar, the students of the village continuously face violations by Israeli soldiers on their way to and from school to the nearby al-Samu town.

The Palestinian Ministry of Education condemned the demolition and confiscation of the school’s property. It also said the demolition of the school represents "the real meaning of planned terrorism" carried out by the Israeli authorities against educational institutions.
