The Israeli military has issued an urgent statement advising citizens in Gaza not to return north past the Netzarim Corridor, which serves as a dividing line between the north and south of the territory. The Israel Defense Forces' Arabic spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, emphasized that all previously issued instructions, including the prohibition on approaching the Netzarim axis, remain in effect until further notice.
The statement clarified that these instructions will continue until new directives are issued, contingent upon Hamas fulfilling its commitments. An Israeli official also indicated that Gazan civilians will not be permitted to cross into the north until a female civilian, Arbel Yehud, who is currently held in Gaza, is either in Israeli custody or until the process of her release commences.
Providing context to the situation, it is noted that under the ceasefire and hostage agreement, Palestinian civilians are supposed to be allowed to return to their homes throughout Gaza, including in the heavily affected northern region.
