Israeli military conducts extensive operations in Gaza city, destroying neighborhoods

Residential buildings, destroyed in Israeli strikes during the conflict, lie in ruin, in Gaza City

Israeli military operations in the southern Gaza city of Khan Yunis have resulted in widespread destruction, as revealed in recent video footage. Entire neighborhoods have been leveled and left unrecognizable, with no sign of any human beings. Meanwhile, Israeli Finance Minister, a member of the far-right, has criticized President Biden's recent executive order targeting violent Israeli settlers in the West Bank. The finance minister has accused Biden of spreading an 'anti-Semitic lie' propagated by Israel's enemies.

In response to Biden's executive order, former Israeli Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett, stated that he believes it is unnecessary. Bennett insists that Israel already prosecutes any violent or criminal activities, concerning both settlers and Palestinians. He further argues that incidents of settler violence are minimal, and there has been a significant decrease in such acts over the years. Bennett asserts that the perception of violence from settlers is exaggerated to create false parity between settler and Palestinian violence. He maintains that Israel is fully capable of handling these issues internally and does not require outside assistance.

In a separate incident, Israeli special forces carried out a covert raid at a hospital in the West Bank. The forces disguised themselves as civilians and medical staff, including one person who appeared to be carrying a bassinet for a baby. During the raid, three Palestinians were killed, reportedly identified as terrorists by the Israeli military. However, the hospital disputes this claim, stating that one of the deceased was receiving treatment for injuries sustained in a previous rocket attack. Video evidence also surfaced, showing the individual in his hospital bed alongside his family.

Despite the hospital's claims, Bennett argues that terrorists commonly use hospitals as safe havens. He asserts that Israel is fighting against terrorists who disregard any laws or ethical boundaries while using innocent civilians as human shields. Bennett believes that a double standard is applied to Israel, as Hamas freely operates without consequences and utilizes hospitals and schools as refuges. He acknowledges that there may be occasional situations where terrorists are targeted within hospitals, but maintains that the primary issue lies with Hamas exploiting these locations to protect themselves.

When pressed further on the ethics of the covert raid at the hospital, Bennett emphasizes the need for self-defense and protection of Israeli citizens. He justifies the operation, stating that soldiers disguise themselves among terrorists and abduct them in order to safeguard the Israeli population. While acknowledging the potential presence of innocent individuals in hospitals, Bennett assures that Israel never deliberately targets women and children. He draws a comparison, stating that if Osama bin Laden were in a hospital, injured or not, Israel would take necessary action to neutralize the threat.

In conclusion, the recent video footage from Khan Yunis highlights the extensive destruction caused by Israeli military operations. The Israeli Finance Minister's criticism of President Biden's executive order is met with opposition from former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, who argues that Israel is equipped to handle internal issues without external intervention. The covert raid at a West Bank hospital has generated controversy, with conflicting accounts regarding the identity of those killed. While Bennett asserts the necessity of such operations to defend Israeli citizens, concerns are raised regarding the potential risk to innocent individuals present in hospitals.
