Head of the Israeli military’s Northern Command Major General Yoel Strick declared on Monday that the next war against Lebanon “will be the last in the North.”
“It won’t be another Second Lebanon War, but the final northern war,” he said, according to Israeli media.
Israel was last engaged in a conflict in Lebanon when it waged a war against the “Hezbollah” party in 2006.
During the next war, Strick vowed that Israeli forces will destroy the party and its backers.
The military has been improving its land, air and defense forces and it is active every night on the northern front, he added.
He hoped that a third war would not take place, but later said that a conflict on Israel’s northern front is a possibility.
“For every kilogram of un-precise explosives directed against Israel, we will respond with tons of precise bombs on ‘Hezbollah’ targets,” Strick vowed, saying that “Hezbollah’s” infrastructure will be targeted.
