The Palestinian government warned against the escalation led by Israel against the Palestinians, their land and properties.
Government spokesman Youssef al-Mahmoud called on Arab and Islamic governments to “champion” Jerusalem and its holy sites.
The government made its plea after Israeli forces stormed on Sunday the Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs, which led to clashes.
Mahmoud condemned the “dangerous” escalation by Israel, deeming it a blatant violation of all international laws and agreements.
He added that the occupation government bears full responsibility for these continuous violations against Jerusalem, citizens and Islamic and Christian holy sites.
Israeli forces had stormed the Ministry of Jerusalem Affairs and assaulted its employees.
Israel had also targeted Jerusalem governor Adnan Ghaith, accusing him of performing the Palestinian Authority’s official duties in Jerusalem, in violation of Israeli laws.
Israeli forces had arrested Ghaith last week after assaulting him while he was attending a seminar in Jerusalem. He was released after two hours.
He was previously arrested on October 20 and put under a seven-day house arrest.
Israeli sources accused him of meddling in an investigation of Jerusalem settlements.
