Israel's military said on Wednesday that it has observed a drone entering Israeli airspace from Lebanon.

In a brief announcement, the military said that the aircraft returned to Lebanon. It gave no further details.

But the military spokesman considered the move as a “dangerous violation of Israeli sovereignty.”

An official in Tel Aviv considered the "violation" as an attempt by some sides in Lebanon to sabotage the efforts exerted by David Satterfield, the acting US assistant secretary for Near Eastern affairs, to mediate between Israel and Lebanon on maritime borders.

Satterfield is in Beirut for talks with top Lebanese officials, including President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Saad Hariri.

The official expected negotiations between Israel and Lebanon to start at the border crossing of Naqoura this month.

The US envoy has been shuttling between Lebanon and Israel since early last month in an effort to revive attempts to resolve the border issue.
