Israel Responds To Turkey's Export Ban With Retaliatory Measures

Turkey's durum exports ease the strain on pasta makers

Israel has responded to Turkey's decision to ban exports of military-related products, accusing Ankara of breaching a trade agreement.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz stated that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is allegedly prioritizing his support for Hamas over the economic interests of the Turkish people. Katz emphasized that Israel will take appropriate actions in response to this move.

In light of Turkey's decision, Katz has taken the following steps:

  • Ordered Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to compile a comprehensive list of products that will be prohibited.
  • Expressed intentions to seek support from the United States and other allies to halt investments in Turkey and restrict the import of Turkish goods.
  • Plans to appeal to the US Congress to consider imposing sanctions on Turkey.

On the other hand, Turkey announced the imposition of new export restrictions on Israel following accusations by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. Fidan claimed that Israel had refused a request to airdrop aid to Gaza, leading to this retaliatory measure.
